Finding That Eluding Peace
Launching the net for the Harvest is the biggest thing the Church, the body of Christ can and should be doing.
The need for the gospel is no longer a speculation. Traveling for years now through African cities, towns and villages as well as North America and a little of Europe, the need is the same.
The human heart is restless. Peace evades man no matter how much effort or money is spent in search for peace. The root of all these is not material lack, poverty or education. Although material supply, prosperity and a good education can improve the mental state of man temporarily, there is still a deeper need.
That is why even the wealthy, the education and the famous are more restless than the poor and wretched. Although the former makes a lot of effort, spending so much to hide their anxieties, many of them live on drug just to conceal their low self-esteem, their worries and their fears, the truth is that life is very empty without Christ.
On every continent, in every ethnicity and in every nation, man’s nature and need is universal. The heart without God is empty. Celebrities are lonely. Kings and rulers are powerless. Scientists are clueless. The wealthy are weak and incapacitated.
However, there is an old solution in some cases ignored, in other cases, despised. And that solution is Jesus, the Christ.
In recent weeks, we have been launching our gospel in the Region of Agneby-Tiassa in Southern Ivory Coast, we have seen both the spiritual and physical need incredibly. We also got incredible opportunity to talk with the villagers one on one, to see through their needs as we listen to them, to encourage them and pray with them.
Not only that, we have shared richly the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ one on one, in groups and in open air style media show crusades. Beautiful people saddled with yokes and burdens by needs, hunger, fear, hopelessness, sin, sickness and disillusion.
It is amazing how God’s word begins to lighting the heart of man. Then understanding come. And this restores hope and joy. Man begins to make sense of his situation. He sees his life for the first time as in a mirror. He understands he current status.
But most importantly, he sees what he needs to do, immediately. In most cases, the people respond almost immediately. They open their hearts to the love of God. They let Jesus in.
The restoration of faith and relationship with God through Jesus Christ the Lord is the first step to finding peace.
“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1 (NIV)
With the restoration of peace, comes joy, hope and relief.
Jesus sets free.
Only Jesus.
